Including delicate slopes, lethargic villages, well known Roman urban areas such as Bath, and lively towns like Cheltenham, there is a great amount to see and do while camping in the Cotswolds.

We narrow down the top 10 camping sites in the heart of England, that are motorhome and caravan friendly, where you can spend time together with your friends and family this summer.

  1. Cotswold Hills Country Park

    Peaceful, year-round camping, touring and holiday lodge park, Cotswold Hills Country Park is set in open countryside just outside of Chipping Norton and close to the pretty Cotswolds villages of Bourton-on-the-Water, Burford, Broadway and Stow-on-the-Wold.

    This campsite is open the whole year through and welcomes caravans, motorhomes and campers. With a standpoint over open country, the park gives the ideal spot to unwind and relax.

    It offers 70 pitches all with electric hookups, from which: 40x Grass Pitches and 30x Hardstanding Touring Pitches for motorhomes.

  2. Far Peak Camping - Northleach, Gloucestershire

    Camping in the heart of Cotswold is a perfect way to explore the local area and relax in the surrounding countryside at your own pace and preference.

    On this site, there are many grass pitch camping areas and about 50 electric hook-up points for caravans, motorhomes and camping vehicles. An isolated place or at the heart of the action can be chosen.

    Here, you can choose between basic grass and electric hook up pitches, as well as the Glace, located away from the car park and enclosed fully by the woods.

  3. Chipping Norton Camping and Caravanning Club Site

    Chipping Norton is a market town in the Cotswold Hills in the West district of Oxfordshire, around 12 miles southwest of Banbury.

    If you’re planning on staying 4+ nights use the 20% family discount that is valid for stays through July and August 2020.

    This camping and motorhome club has wifi and allows pets on the site.

    On the very entrance of this caravan and camping site, you can find a cosy welcome lodge. Here you can enjoy Ox Shed Bar & Cafe and benefits of an onsite camping essentials shop, dive into a warm relaxing area or explore the Wildlife Walk nearby.

    In this facility, there are useful amenities to make your stay more comfortable: microwave, fridge, freezer, toaster, chemical toilet and wastewater disposal as well as a laundry room.

    You can choose between Glamping Tents, Camping Pots with modern and well-maintained shower blocks, Lodges with wifi included and private bathroom, or Pitches for experienced campers.

  5. The Pig Place Campsite, Banbury

    This inviting, family-owned, rustic, canal-side campsite was completely transformed since its discovery in 2007. Friendly hosts would welcome you for a homemade, delicious, daily cooked food and sightsee around their animal farm site.

    Following the government's guidelines on the current situation, the campsite has implemented measures such as distance markers for shower/toilets queues, contactless check-in and daily deep cleaning of common areas.

    Being located on a farm, this waterside campsite has an amazing view. The bicycle routes are nearby, where you can enjoy the day by cycling or even fishing. This site is adult-oriented, has good walks nearby and a pub within short walking distance. In the town of Banbury closeby, you can find independent shops and restaurants. 

    Being adult-only, this campsite is suitable for tents, campervans, caravans. It welcomes dogs and operates from March to October each year.

    The opening of the Club campsite on 4th of July will be adjusted to the latest social distancing and protection standards set out by the UK government. This is a Tourer Explorer site, where kids become nature detectives, artists, bug collectors and outdoor adventurers.

  8. Valley Farm Campsite

    Valley Farm is a more traditional, rustic, family-run campsite set amongst 6 acres of land only 4 miles from Oxford Centre. It is a 2 mins ride from Oxford Sailing Club, where windsurfing and fishing are also available.

    This year this campsite is offering 5 Bell tents and the Shepherd's Hut. On the site are three luxurious, fully furnished Bell tents, with availability from April to September. Bookings for this one are suggested to be made in advance due to increased popularity.

    During the evenings you will be immersed in the smell of BBQs and Campfires, and people spending quality time with family and friends.

    Clean and modern toilets and showers were refurbished in 2019. are within a short walk from the pitches.

    The site accepts Tents, Caravans and Motorhomes including group bookings. Both hard standing and grass pitches available, all on level ground and 10 with electric hook up.

    Favourite pets on-site are donkeys Nelson and Wellington and Bengal Tiger cat Lily. Dogs are allowed on site, however, required to be kept on a lead at all times.

  9. Hardwick Parks - Standlake, Witney

    Home to an excellent pub, restaurant and entertainment venue, Hardwick Parks has two lakes and access to the Windrush River, making it a popular water sports destination for anything from water skiing to wakeboarding and more.

    This family-friendly park is just 30-40 minutes away from historic Oxford for a nice day out and only 15 minutes away from the stunning Cotswolds. The park covers more than 180 acres and is a major hit with local wildlife whose natural habitats remain undisturbed.

    It is a perfect place to avoid the burden of everyday life in the countryside around Oxfordshire and still close to a nearby village (Witney).
